CLUSTRS X VALORANT STREAMERS: INSIGHTS ON GLASS MOUSEPAD PERFORMANCE

「Haeyoday – High Sens Player」

1. Why High-Sensitivity Players Prefer a Smooth Glass Mousepad for Consistent Performance?

When you play on cloth, there is resistance that controls the movement. However, over time, the resistance of a cloth pad becomes very inconsistent due to slow spots. To compensate, you need to use a lot of force and hand-eye coordination. A smoother pad (aka glasspad) provides the same feeling forever, a consistent glide. Whenever you have a consistent glide, you have the same motion all the time from point A to point B, you can repeat the same movement repeatedly. As such, muscle memory can be built, leading to a more consistent performance instead of relying on brute force and pure reflexes.

2. How Clustrs Glass Mousepads Improve One-Tap Precision and Accuracy for High-Sensitivity Players?

The fact that the feeling of the pad and its glide is consistent makes every single adjustment simple.

Picture this, you shoot a basketball in the hoop, the balls, sizes, and weights will always change, causing inconsistency in accuracy. Using a clustrs glasspad would make every ball feel the same.

3. During fast flicks or rapid directional changes, what aspects of Clustrs do you prefer compared to other pads?

I like the microtexture of clustrs’ pads, it allows me to feel exactly where I am going and when to stop it. If a pad is too smooth, it’s like trying to button a shirt with gloves on; it’s impractical because you can’t feel the buttons to grab them properly. As a result, the microtexture provides good stopping power by allowing my hand to feel where it is.

4. Glass pads are very smooth — how do you maintain such precise control on this kind of surface?

Glasspads are smooth, but clustrs’ has just enough microtexture for me to maintain control.

Monkey – Low Sens Player」

1. How do you understand DPI / eDPI, and what settings do you typically use?

I understand DPI to be very different, even though it may seem small. Lower DPI to me definitely feels noticeably faster than higher DPI, and because of that, I like to stay in between 800 and 1600 DPI. As for eDPI, I do not look at eDPI because I personally like to stick to a DPI and change sensitivity. I use 800 DPI 0.16 sensitivity on Valorant.

2. As a low-sensitivity player, is a 500×400mm pad ideal for you?

The 500x400mm is perfectly fine for me, and I think that any smaller would start to become a problem with my sensitivity. It would not hurt for it to be larger since I do have the desk space; however, this size is perfectly good.

3. In your opinion, why are glass pads better suited for FPS games (especially Valorant) compared to cloth pads?

I think that glass pads are more suitable for FPS games compared to cloth pads, especially if you want maximum consistency. The most bothersome thought that I had when playing with cloth was that the feel was different depending on the temperature, moisture, and my sweat. This created spots with more friction and spots with less which ever so slightly changed my consistency.

Switching to glass changed everything for me, and it only took two weeks to instantly see improvement. The friction always remains consistent, and the stopping power feels just right. For Valorant, I think the less the friction, the better, especially with how many movement characters there are, where tracking is important. Tracking on the glass pad has been so easy that I do not even have to aim to train, but this does not sacrifice my flicking either. That is why glass pads are extremely superior to cloth, especially when it comes to Valorant.

Shared Questions」

1. When did you first realize you were a high-sens / low-sens player? Was there a specific moment?

(Haeyo) I don’t like using force. On low-sens, you are required to always use force to move the mouse. Combined with a cloth pad, even more force needs to be used because of its friction. Once I switched from a cloth pad to a glass pad, I realized that less force is needed due to its low friction properties. That made me use even less force if I switched to high sens on low friction. All of my adjustments are at top speeds without even putting any effort. One micro-movement is 10x faster than low-sens players.

(Monkey) I first realized when aiming became effortless. Previously, I used to play high sens, but I often found myself being way too shaky. When using low sens, I am never shaky with my mouse movements, and playing the long-distance angles felt like an advantage compared to other players. My micro-flicks were always on point, and the only errors I saw in my gameplay were decision making.

2. How do you usually practice or improve your gameplay? Any recommended training routines or modes?

(Haeyo) Every time I play, I reflect on rounds, games, and engagements on how I could’ve done better. I actively find my mistakes and troubleshoot for days, weeks, or even months.

(Monkey) In order to improve, I think it is essential to problem-solve and find out what went wrong. VOD reviewing, playing with a coach, or even just self-reflecting and learning from other professional players is enough to improve. I typically do an abundance of deathmatches to improve my mechanics, like crosshair placement and reaction times.

3. What kind of mousepad would you like Clustrs to create in the future?

I would love a very fast pad, with a lot of micro texture, preferably uncoated.

*clustrs: hmm🤔

4. How does using a glass mousepad improve your in-game performance?

(Haeyo) Before using glass mousepads, I was barely radiant 600RR. Every single day of playing just felt different. I couldn’t find my groove because I would always need to depend on my reflexes and motor skills. This made me inconsistent, so I was getting frustrated, snowballing into more inconsistency. I also kept changing sens because it felt different all the time. Swapping to a glasspad made me feel like I am always using the same thing every day, I don’t need to change sens, I don’t need to use extreme amounts of force. The moment my mind thinks about moving the mouse, it’s done automatically, causing practically instant reactions. This change made me become a very consistent player, who hit 1000RR rank 1 in NA.

(Monkey) When I was on cloth pads, I found my statistics to be very inconsistent. You cannot expect your teammates, whom you can barely rely on, to win you the games except yourself. Switching to the glass pad definitely changed my consistency to a noticeable degree, and I found myself constantly getting a blue tracker score in the highest radiant lobbies.

5. Where did you first hear about glass mousepads, and what convinced you to try one?

(Haeyo) I heard about glass mousepads from friends. What convinced me to try one was when I tried almost every single top-tier cloth pad, spent a lot of money, and they all felt different every month. There’s no cloth pad that feels good and consistent to me after a couple of weeks. I did not want to replace cloth pads every single month as pros do. Then, I heard about glass mousepads being consistent forever, always the same precision.

(Monkey) I first saw the existence of glass mousepads from the content creator A1D. He was such a big influence on me at the time because his clips were absolutely surreal to me, especially after seeing his rank. My school friend eventually let me try one for the first time, and it immediately changed my mind.

6. What was your first impression when you used a glass pad for the very first time?

(Haeyo) I instantly realized that it felt right; it was the real deal.

(Monkey) My first impression when using a glass mousepad was that it felt very smooth and very fast. Controlling the speed only took about a week to get used to, and after that, it felt super comfortable.

7. Would you recommend a glass pad to your friends? If yes, for what reasons?

(Haeyo) I recommend everyone to try it. It's easy to clean, it always has a consistent glide, and it’s aesthetic.

(Monkey) Of course! The pros of the glass mousepad definitely outweigh the cons when it comes to logistics. Who would not want a faster mousepad that is super easy to clean, that almost feels effortless to play on? I would say try one and see for yourself because you never know, at least that is what happened to me.

8. What does “good stopping power” mean to you, and how does Clustrs perform in this aspect?

(Haeyo) Already answered in individual question number 3, haha.

(Monkey) Good stopping power means my mouse does not glide too much on the pad to the point where it's almost like air hockey. However, no mousepad has been that way for me YET. Clustrs excels in this with the texture on the mousepad. It allows for a lot of glide but with reliable stopping power to the point where it feels natural.

9. What do you think is the biggest misconception about glass mousepads, and how did you overcome it?

(Haeyo) People say that glass mousepads make players inconsistent and that there’s no stopping power. These are both big misconceptions. In fact, most people who say that got non-reputable or low-quality glass mousepads. I believe that with enough micro texture on a glass mousepad, it has really good stopping power, and therefore is good for tactical shooters despite being low-friction.

(Monkey) When I tell everyone to get on the mousepads, I hear a LOT of doubt. The most common misconception I hear is that it would make the mouse have no stopping power. At first it may seem this way, but when you really get used to it, this is completely wrong. Stopping power on the glass feels natural to me with pads that have texture on it. I am a full believer in glass pads with texture that has the least friction.
